Reminiscences ~ Enlightening year of trading

This one isn’t polished, and maybe not complete — but here it is anyway.

This week concludes my first year of trading. I achieved my goal of 100% gain, but couldn’t keep it. Well, life is always full of regrets, and it doesn’t matter if I add one more to it. However, what’s more important is that I have learnt so much from the market about myself, something I couldn’t understand for my past 10 years.

My yearly return

Overall, I ended with 81% in profit. I once reached more than 150%, but sadly as you can see, I lost over 50% in a single day and never went back up again until this month. I went up from -7% back to -1% very quickly, and it was large enough which is possible to see from the graph at the end. This is after losing all my bets INTC revenue.

In this end, nobody really knows what will happen. I do believe you can improve your win rate with knowledge and experience, but ultimately, it can be still very random. That’s why you have hedging. Now, I understand the difference between a naive and more professional trader. I think I should consider more about how to reduce my risk. We all lose, that’s inevitable, but we can control how much we lose.
