I still remember I used to watch the September Apple Event live in Singapore. I had to stay up very late just to watch it but it was worth it. Every time, I enjoyed new products coming from Apple, mainly the new iPhone. However, I don’t do it anymore.
The last event I watched live and in full was probably the iPhone X. After watching it, I was just so sad and almost cried. The Apple I used to love was gone. I remember the demo of animoji, he was smiling and I was so disappointed. I waited for a year just to see a guy doing funny faces with animoji? Apple could do better but they chose not to. I was already using my OnePlus 5 at that time and abandoned iPhone. This is still true now and I won’t change back to iPhone ever again unless Apple gives me a reason to.
I tried giving Apple a chance everything but all I got was nothing but massive disappointment. Apple likes to tell you what’s good for you and I agree with them. It is great for an average user but I am not. I want my device to do whatever I want it to do for better or worse. My iPad Pro is so powerful but yet, all I can do is watching videos. Something more powerful than my desktop can only watch videos. How stupid is this?
My first iPhone was the iPhone 3GS. I used Java based phones and Windows phones before. However, iPhone was different and unique. It was mind blowing when I first saw it and used it. At that time, I can say that everything else is all rubbish and useless. Then, I had a 4S, 5, 6 and 7. I still remember when Steve announced the first iPhone, it was the beginning of a new era. However, things are different now and iPhone is no longer the best phone.
That’s why I don’t expect anything from Apple. If you don’t expect anything, you will never be disappointed. M1 was such a surprise from Apple and tomorrow, we have a new event. I won’t watch it live but I will watch it when I am awake. I will visit Apple’s website and see what’s new. I will always give Apple a chance because Apple gave me my dream and is probably the only company capable of making my dream device.
However, that doesn’t mean that I will buy a device without thinking. Android is also good nowadays. Don’t close up, be open.
